Pastor Gregory W. Woodson, M.A.
Pastor Gregory W. Woodson gave his life to the Lord in April 1987 under the leadership of Pastor Herman Brown of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Bellvue, Nebraska. With a determination to get it right this time, brother Woodson sought out tutelage from Deacon Gerald H. Barksdale in the study of God’s word. For the next three years a weekly bible study took place starting with two families and expanded to ten every Friday night.
It was through the study of God’s word and Brother Woodson’s growth in it that led the church to offer the position of Deacon within Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. But being in the United States and having just received orders to go to RAF Bentwaters AFB in England, Brother Woodson decided to not accept the offer. Upon arrival to England and attending and joining the Gospel Service under the Pastorship of Kevin Richardson, (now Bishop) the offer of being a Deacon was immediately extended. After accepting the offer and going through Deacon training, Brother Woodson was ordained and held the office of Deacon for two years.
While continuing his growth in the ministry, Deacon Woodson taught Wednesday Night Bible Study and was often utilized to open service with prayer and scripture reading, led a married couple’s retreat and participated in whatever needs arose in the church. As the Spirit of God continued to move upon Deacon Woodson, he acknowledged God’s further call into the ministry and in April 1993 he accepted, preaching his first sermon during the Gospel Service at Bentwaters AFB.
With departure orders now in hand, Minister Woodson and his family departed England in July 1993 and in August 1993 arrived at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. While visiting several churches in the local area, Minister Woodson and his family joined Living Word Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City under the Pastorship of Reverend Isaiah Sierson. In October 1994 he was licensed to preach the gospel, perform marriages, administer the sacraments, and direct other functions of the ministry.
After serving at Living Water for four years, Minister Woodson again received orders, this time to go to Kunsan AB, South Korea. Here, he became a part of the staff of ministers that preached the word, taught bible study, and carried out other functions and fellowships of the church. Another highlight of this assignment was teaching weekly bible studies to local Koreans in the town of Kunsan City. Upon return from Korea in 1999, Minister Woodson and his family were led to a church right in the community where they lived at Windwood Freewill Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend Tom Drake. Here, Minister Woodson conducted the bus ministry, picking up several kids from the community and bringing them to Sunday School. During this time Minister Woodson also taught Sunday School and continued to preach the gospel.
After three years at Windwood Freewill Baptist Church, Minister Woodson and his family returned to Living Word Missionary Baptist Church in 2002. He continued in the ministry through preaching, teaching and leading many programs, fellowships and church anniversaries until released by the Lord in September 2014. Following that release, Minister Woodson was ordained in January of 2015, and was led to start a church in May 2016, now known as Living Water Christian Church. Services are currently conducted in their home until the land the church purchased is completely paid off and they can start the building process.
